The program is divided into 25% didactic modules and 75% field work. Didactic modules are delivered by consultants and specialists from different directorates within the Federal Ministry of Health, UN agencies and Universities. They are invited to participate in teaching and training of SFETP residents and share their knowledge, skills and experience in their area of expertise. During the field work, residents are assigned a field supervisor, who is usually the Head of the Epidemiology Department within the ministry. Each field supervisor is allocated 1-2 residents to oversee and follow their progress as well as ensuring the residents participation in the department’s activities including outbreak investigation, surveillance and epidemiological analysis.
